Nyt kun uusi Ulla on vihdoinkin ulkona (joo, en edes jaksannut blogata siitä kun julkaisimme sen, menin vain nukkumaan, pateettista.) niin jaksaa taas blogatakin. Kävin viime viikolla turisteeraamassa Tallinnassa äidin kanssa. Ensimmäistä kertaa tuli vietettyä yötä siellä, pari itse asiassa, joten ehti nähdä hieman enemmän. Ihan kiva reissu, voisi toistekin mennä.

Now that the new Ulla is finally out (yeah, I know, didn't even blog about it when we published it, just went to bed, how pathetic is that?) I have time and energy for blogging again. I went to Tallinn last week with my Mother. First time I spent a longer time there than just a day (two nights) so we got to see more stuff. I liked it, could go another time too.

Salaiselta ystävältä - From Secret Pal

Sain maanantaina "kirje ei mahtunut postiluukustanne"-lapun (ja ei tasan tarkkaan soittanut ovikelloa mokoma, olisin kuullut sen) ja paketin olisi voinut hakea tiistaina, harmillisesti olin ti-to Tallinnassa (siitä lisää myöhemmin) joten jouduin odottamaan perjantaihin asti jotta saisin paketin. Olin melko varma että siellä olisi yllätys salaiselta ystävältä ja siksipä moinen viive oli ärsyttävä. Mutta, odotus palkittiin runsaasti.

On Monday I got a "you got a too large a letter to fit through your mail slot"-note (and nope, the postman didn't ring the doorbell for I would have heard it) and I could have picked it up on Tuesday but alas, I was in Tallinn Tue-Thur (more later) and managed to get my hands on the package only on Friday. I was almost certain that there would be goodies from my Secret Pal which is why the delay was annoying. But, my waiting was amply rewarded.

Koska, olin oikeassa, eli sain yllätyspaketin. Sisältä paljastui kaikkea kivaa, suosikkejani Ghirardellin neliöistä (tummaa suklaata ja vadelmaa, nami yhdistelmä), pieni kassi jonka sisällä oli tukikäsine (craft glove), kaksi kynsiviilaa (niitä tarvitaan aina), pikku tuubi rasvaa, kortti ja lankaa. Ihanaa lankaa. Kaksi vyyhtiä Artfibersin Hana-silkkilankaa.

And yes, I was right, there was a bag of goodies from my Secret Pal. And I mean it literally, for there was a cute bag inside of which I found two nail files (they'll get to good use), a craft glove, my favourite Ghirardelli squares (yummu dark chocolate and raspberries, ok, these weren't actually in the bag), a tube of moisturizing creme, a smiley face card and last but not least, two balls of yarn. Gorgeous silk yarn, Artfibers Hana.

I bought two balls of it myself a few years ago from their store at San Francisco and made a lace scarf which I like and I like the yarn too so I was a bit sad that I had used it all up. But now I have more, thanks to my lovely pal. It will likely end up another scarf once I think of the perfect pattern. But look at those colours...

Olen ollut ilmeisen kiltti kun posti muisti tällä viikolla kolmella paketilla jotka sopivasti sai samalla kertaa. Ensimmäisestä ei ole kuvaa tässä, koska se sisälsi vain lisää Haaviston lapaskirjoja kirjakerhosta. Mutta muut esittelenkin sitten ihan kuvan kera, ensimmäisenä Villamokan Mokkasukkaa väreinä Vilkas ja Lumikki.

I've apparently been nice for I got three packages this week and they arrived conveniently together. I don't have a photo of one of the packages, however, since it contained only a couple of more of those Haavisto's mitten books. But the other packages I will present with photos. The first one being above, Villamokka's Mokkasukka sock yarn in Vilkas (Dopey) and Lumikki (Snow White).

Ja nyt voisi sukkien kuvaaminen olla helpompaa, jos olis vain mitä kuvata...kun tökittää vieläkin niiden samojen sukkien kanssa. Siis Liinan villa-blogin kautta tilatut Succaplokit. Sievät kyllä ovat (varsinkin nuo käsi-puikkomittarit) käyttöön eivät vielä ole päässet mutta toivottavasti kohta.

And now the photographing of socks might be easier if I had something to photograph for I'm still working with the same pair. For I ordered a pair of Succaplokit via Liinan villat-blog. They are very cute (especially the hand needle gauges) though I haven't used them yet but hopefully will soon.

Tätä oli ihan pakko ostaa kun törmäsin kaupassa, Palmoliven Pure Cashmir-suihkusaippuaa. Mutta, mitä ihmettä on olevinaan kashmir-uute?

I had to buy this when I saw it at the store, Palmolive Pure Cashmere-shower gel. But, pray tell me, what on earth is this cashmere essence supposed to be (it says contains 100% natural cashmere-essence)?

Ei se sukkaa pahasti - It does not sock too bad

Juu, itseasiassa on minulla jalusta kameralle...jossakin. Mutta se ei ole kauhean hyvä. On meillä (tai miehellä oikeastaan) kuitenkin tällainen gorillapodikin johon saa digijärkkärin lisäksi ruuvattua myös minun pikku-Ixukseni (gorilloita ei ole vahingoitettu kuvausten aikana). Se on kuitenkin aika iso, joten pienempi värillinen versio voisi olla aika vekkuli. Sininen vaikka?

Yes, actually I do have a tripod for my camera...somewhere. But it is not a very handy one. Though we (or the hubby actually) have one of these too, a gorilla pod (no gorillas were harmed while making the photograph). In addition to the big camera also my small Ixus can be screwed onto this. It is a bit big so a smaller one, with colours would be nice - blue, perhaps?

Mutta sen lisäksi että sukkien valokuvaaminen on hiukan vaikeaa niin se on myös hiukan tylsää (ja tuottaa tylsiä kuvia). Mutta olisiko tässä vähän vaihtelua?

In addition to the fact that photographing socks is a bit difficult it can be also a bit boring (and produce boring photos). How's this for a change?

Sukkien valokuvaamisesta - On photographing socks

Ei minulla oikeastaan mitään asiaa ole, mutta toisaalta jos olet Ullan jäsen niin kannattaa mennä jäsensivuille äänestämään kansikuvaneuletta seuraavaan Ullaan.

Nämä eivät kuitenkaan löydy vielä seuraavasta numerosta koska ne eivät ole ihan valmiit. Ja näistä tulee todennäköisesti vielä pienempi versio myös. Teinkin tikusta asiaa ja kuvaa napsautin hieman kuvitusta blogiin. Tässäpä ongelman ydin, miten ottaa kuvat sukista siten että niistä vielä saa jotain selvää?

Jos yrittää sisätiloissa niin kamera haluaa välttämättä salaman ja tietäähän sitä miten sitten käy.

I don't have much to write about for I have worked on a pair of socks for ages already (ripping does it every time) and today I worked with the upcoming Ulla (no, it's not out yet).

But these you won't find in it for they are still not finished. And probably there will be a smaller version also. But I made them the subject of this blog-post anyway and snapped a couple of shots that clearly demonstrate the heart of my problem. For how is it possible to photograph socks while wearing them?

If you try it indoors the camera insists on using a flash and we all know how that turns out, don't we?

Ja ilman salamaa on lähes mahdotonta päästä vaadittavaan tarkkakätisyyteen jotta kuvasta ei tulisi tuhruinen. Eikä tullut tällä kertaakaan.

And without a flash it is nearly impossible to obtain steady enough hands to get a clear picture. Which I didn't manage to do this time either.

Oh, as long as I remember...the question of the week for SP12 was As a kid, what did you look forward to most about summer vacation/break/holiday?

Well, I'll continue to be boring for I just looked forward to not having to go to school and having time to play with my friends. We were a bit boring for we didn't have a summer cottage (though we did go visit other people's cottages sometimes) nor did we own a boat or anything (we did live in a coastal city but my Father was a sailor and I guess he just got enough of the sea while working) neither did I go to any camps or such. I just spent time with friends and played all summer long. And read books too.

Suosikki kesäjuomani - My Favourite Summertime Drink

Otan osaa Secret Pal-vaihtoon taas kerran ja emännät laittoivat viikon kysymykseksi suosikki kesäjuoman. Siispä keskityn sen pohtimiseen tällä kertaa, ilman kuvia valitettavasti.

I'm taking part in the Secret Pal-exhange yet again and the hostesses posted a question for us all this week about what is our favourite summertime drink. So I will ponder on that a bit, without any photos, I'm afraid.

Tämä on kyllä harvinaisen selvää, sillä minulla ei ole mitään varsinaista suosikkikesäjuomaa. Kylmiä juomia tulee kyllä nautittua enemmän kuin lämpimiä, mutta teetä menee silti ihan mukavasti, teekupponen viikonloppuaamuna on ihan must ja töissä tulee otettua se yksi kuppi ruuan jälkeen. Jääteestä en ikinä ole oppinut pitämään, kun kaupassa myytävät tökötit ovat ihan liian makeita ja omaa en ole jaksanut alkaa tehdä. Olen kyllä jossain kahviloissa juonut heidän omaansa, maustamatonta johon voi itse lisätä sokeria jos haluaa. Se on ihan namia kyllä.

Mutta...vaikka minulla ei selvää suosikkia olekaan niin kesällä maistuu mm. White Lady-drinkki (sitruunamehua, giniä ja cointreau-likööriä) ja alkoholittomana vaihtoehtona vaikka kivennäisvesi minttusiirapilla (sillä vihreällä). Sitä on yllättävän vaikea löytää suomesta, minttusiirappia siis, joten sitä tulee tarpeen mukaan osteltua lomamatkoilta, tällä hetkellä jääkaapissa oleva pullo taitaa olla peräisin Brysselistä jokunen vuosi sitten. Eli siis melkein vuosikertakamaa...hmm, pitäisiköhän kohta ostaa uusi jostain. Eli selvästi ulkomaanmatkan paikka. Olenkin jo varannut Tallinnanmatkan parin viikon päähän.

This is very clear-cut I'm afraid for I do not have a favourite summertime drink. I do tend to drink colder drinks more in summertime but I do drink my share of warm ones too for a cup of tea is a must on weekend mornings and at work after lunch I usually drink a cup too. I never have liked ice tea much for the ones they sell here at the shops is much too sweet to my taste and I'm way too lazy to make my own. I do enjoy it if I can find the unsweetened one at a cafe or elsewhere so that I may add sweetenings according to my taste or none at all if I so choose.

Hmm...even though I do not have a favourite summertime drink I do like to sip the occasional White Lady (lemon juice, gin and cointreau-liqour) or for a non-alcoholic choise I might take mineral water with mint syrup (the green one). It is surprisingly hard to find here, mint syrup that is. So I've had to bring the odd bottle along from one of my trips. I think the one currently residing inside our fridge is from Brussels a few years back. So nearly a vintage product then, might be time to get a fresh bottle. So, time for a trip abroad then, methinks. I am planning to go to Tallinn in a couple of weeks.

Huono, huono kamera - Bad, Bad, Camera

Kerran Ravelryssä törmäsin neulojaan joka kaipasi Haaviston Sata kansanomaista kuviokudinmallia -kirjaa ja minä olin sopivasti liittynyt Juju-kerhoon juuri sopivasti ja tarjouduin vaihtamaan kirjan lankaan. Ja vaihtosuhde oli todella hyvä, sain ihkulankoja ihan paketin täydeltä. Jouduin hakemaan ne tullista ja olin ihan että "joo, ne yleensä laittavan sen paketin arvon liian isoksi näiden vakuutusjuttujen vuoksi" ja tullitäti oli myös ihan että "joo, eihän tässä ole kuin lankaa"...onneksi onnistuin tajuamaan että tässä kohtaa kannattaa pitää suu visusti kiinni eikä leukailla mitään lankojen kalleudesta.

Mutta kuitenkin, tänne kotitui neljä vyyhtiä aivan ihanaa lankaa. Kirjavaihtarini oli Heliinä Kanadasta ja minä heittelin jotain lankamerkkejä ja hän ehdotti Fleece Artistia (kun se on Kanadalainen) ja minä olin ihan että mikä vaan käy, koska en minä kuitenkaan vaihtoon langankiilto silmissäni rynnännyt, vaan ajattelin että kivahan se on kun voi jollekin tuottaa iloa kauan kaivatun opuksen muodossa. No, sain kyllä vaihdossa mielestäni enemmänkin kuin olin ansainnut: vyyhdin Cherry Tree Hillin Supersock Solids lankaa (100% superwash merino) väriä Mulberry, vyyhdin Hand Maiden Casbah Sock Yarn lankaa ( 80% superwash merino, 20% kashmir) väriä Lily Pond ja kaksi vyyhtiä lankaa Hand Maiden Cashmere & Silk väriä Periwinkle ( 65% kashmir, 35% silkki). Viimeksimainitun kanssa oli onnellista että pääsin kotiin asti, sen verran innokkaasti vyyhti kiersi neuletapaamisessa että ihan hirvitti, niin ihanan pehmeää se on. Tosin ennustan että ei tuo Casbahkaan sukiksi päädy...saavat jalat mokomat tyytyä merinoon kashmirsekoituksen sijasta. Pehmeämmät sekoitukset päätyvät kyllä kaulankoristeeksi. Ihania lankoja, tuhannet kiitokset Heliinälle!

Ja otsikko tulee siitä että kamerani ei oikein halua toistaa punaisia värejä kunnolla. Tuo ylinpänä oleva Cherry Tree Hill-lanka on punaisempaa kuin mitä kuvassa.

Once while in Ravelry I ran across a knitter who longed for a copy of Eeva Haavisto's Sata kansanomaista kuviokudinmallia and since I just joined the book club to get said book I thought I'd be nice and offer to swap the book for some yarn. And b0y did I get more than my money's worth on this exchange. I had to go to the customs to claim my package but I was all "well, you know these foreigners put more value than the worth due to insurance reasons" and managed to hold my tongue and not say anything about the worth of yarn in general and I didn't have to pay any fee.

But all in all, it would have been worth paying customs, for I got four skeins of really lovely yarn. My swap pal was Heliinä from Canada and I just gave some yarn pointers and she suggested Fleece Artist (their being Canadian and all) and I said yes, sure. For I just went into the swap thinking it would be nice to give someone a book they had been longing for. I think I got the right end of the stick in this exhange for I got a skein of Cherry Tree Hill Supermerino sock yarn in Mulberry (100% superwash merino), a skein of Hand Maiden Casbah Sock Yarn in Lily pond (80% superwash merino, 20% cashmir) and two skeins of Hand Maiden Cashmere& Silk in Periwinkle (85% cashmir, 35% silk). With the last mentioned I was lucky to get home with two whole skeins for it is so soft that it went around more than once at the knit meet. That will probably become a lovely scarf to caress my itch-prone neck though I predict the Casbah will become some kind of neck-thing also for it is much too lovely to end up protecting my feet. Really lovely yarns, thank you Heliinä!

And as for the title, my camera does not like red yarns so the Cherry Tree Hill yarn that is at the top in the photo is not nearly as violet as it looks like. So, bad, bad camera

Secret Pal 12 Questionnaire

This time only in English, since there's a high propability that the person being my spoiler will not know any Finnish. Besides, I'm lazy. So there.

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?

Hmm...that's a tough question. I mean, I've knitted with many wonderful yarns, it really depends on what I'm making. But in general I like natural fibers, merino, silk, cashmir, etc. Cotton is okay, though I don't really love 100% cotton, but Rowan Calmer is butter.
I don't like acrylics. Period. Though, mixed with other fibers artificial stuff is all good and well, but in general I prefer to have my yarn with over 50 % natural fibers.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?

I have my Options-set with the binder and I have a fabric "holder" for my dpns and my Addis reside inside a lovely wooden box.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?

Umm...for ages. We learn to knit in school here, that's were I learned too. Wasn't too much of a knitting fan until about high school. Then I suddenly had an urge to knit a sweater and that was that.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

Err...in theory, but I haven't really updated it so in practice no.

5. What's your favorite scent?

I don't have one favourite scent. I like scents, but I can't really use them. I mostly use scented body lotions. One of my favourites is Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea. I generally prefer fruity scents over floral, since many floral scents end up smelling like cat pee on my skin. Must be some particular flower but it seems to be everywhere so I avoid them. I like blackurrant and citrucy scents and vanilla is nice too if it's not too overpowering. Don't like my scents too sweet, though.

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?

Yes. Chocolate, really. Some favourites are Ferrero Rocher balls and Ghirardelli raspberry squeares. Ooh, and Belgian chocolates, but you can't really eat many of those, too sweet.

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?

I usually make my own xmas cards, but that's about it. I do machine knitting, though, if that's considered a separate craft.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)

My taste in music is very varied. Only thing I don't like is Country&Western, really. Not too keen on hiphop or rap either.

9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand?

I generally prefer colours on the colder spectrum. And I try to avoid primary colours. Yellow is not my favourite either. But, anything else goes...purples, blues, reds, orange, greens...

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

I'm married, no kids, a cat.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?

Scarves yes, hats only if I can't avoid it, mittens...not too much, ponchos...no.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?

Don't really have favourite items. I knit what I wear, mostly.

13. What are you knitting right now?

Umm...do I have to say them all? Ok, a lace scarf, socks, and I think there's a sweater somewhere and a scarf yet to be finished.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?

Yes, please.

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?

Circular, bamboo or metal. Dpns for socks, wood or metal.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?

Yes, both.

17. How old is your oldest UFO?

Hmm...did some UFO-busting a while ago so...don't have many of those.

18. What is your favorite holiday?

Midsummer. The city is nice and quiet then.

19. Is there anything that you collect?

Nah, not really...unless jewellery counts? Or shoes. Or yarn.

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?

Ooh, there's this Japanese Aran knit-book that sounds interesting. And I've yet to get Victorian Lace Today. You can always ask...

21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?

Hmm...I've been thinking of teaching myself to knit with both hands but other than that, not really.

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?

Yes. I'm about EU39 size. If need be, I can give more exact measurements.

23. When is your birthday?

July 29th.

24. Are you on Ravelry? If so, what's your ID?

Yes, and it's Niina.

Oh, and if I can make a request...no soaps, please. I don't use them that much and I got some from previous two swaps to keep me in soaps for a while.

Tarinan aika: olipa kerran neuloja joka ihastui Kauni takkiin (pdf) ja halusi tehdä sellaisen itselleenkin. Matkalla Tallinnassa hän hamstrasi itselleen kolmen vyyhdin verran sateenkaarilankaa. Koska ohuempaa ei ollut tarjolla, hän päätti ostaa paksumpaa, sillä ei kai 6/2 voi nyt niin kauheasti erota 8/2:sta? Kotona aikansa sitä pyöriteltyään hän totesi, että kyllä voi. Kirjoneulepaita moisesta langasta ei olisi ehkä sisäkäyttöön sopiva ja kun mallikin on aika laatikko, niin eipä sitä takkia ikinä syntynyt. Välillä käväisi mielessä jo ajatus langan myymisestä eteenpäin mutta sitten muistui mieleen neulemaailmassa joku vuosi sitten käväissyt buumi huovutetuista lasten duffeleista. Ja koska lähipiiristä löytyi kaksikin sopivaa uhria ja lehtikin oli omassa varastosta niin juttuhan vaikutti ihan järjestetyltä jo. Paitsi lehti oli ehtinyt jo päätyä myyntiin ja lainaus ei onnistunut joten homma uhkasi tyrehtyä ihan alkuunsa. Sitten hän päätti että "mämitäänohjeitatarvi" ja nappasi mittoja olemassaolevasta takista, teki mallitilkkuja, polkaisi koneen käyntiin ja tässä tulos.

A time for a story: once upon a time there was a knitter who took a liking to the Kauni cardigan (pdf). While on a trip to Tallinn she managed to hoard three skeins of rainbow wool. Since there wasn't enough of the thinner kind available she decided to buy the thicker kind, for surely there isn't that much difference between 6/2 and 8/2? After mulling over the fact at home she decided that there surely was for a fair-isle jacket made of the yarn would not be suitable for indoor wear. And since the design was really boxy she never started with the work. The yarn marinated in the stash for a while and she even contemplated on selling it but then she remembered the felted kid's duffels that were paraded in the finnish knit blogs a while ago. There were a couple of suitable candidates in the near vicinity and the magazine with the pattern on was available too so for a couple of minutes it seemed like a match made in heaven. Until the said knitter remembered that she had sold the magazine in question already and couldn't find anyone to lend her a copy. The future of the yarn looked bleak indeed until she decided that "Idont'neednostinkingpatterns" and took some measurements from an existing jacket and lo, here's the result.

Ok, myönnetään että istuvuus ei ole ihan täydellinen. Käytin huopuvuusmittarina omaa konettani ja tämä huovutettiin toisella, joten kutistuvuus ei taida olla ihan samaa luokkaa. Mutta lapsissa on se hyvä puoli että ne kasvavat ja hihat voi aina kääriä jne. joten luulen että tästä tulee ihan kelvollinen syksyn ja talven nuttu.

Mitä siis tapahtui:

• lankaa kului noin 450 g (Oü Aade Lõng 100% villa nr. 6/2)
• neulonta tapahtui koneella suurimmalla asetuksella
• virkkasin reunoihin kolmisen kerrosta kiinteitä silmukoita tukevoittamaan ja tein napinlävet virkkauksella myös (ne vaativat hieman kiinniompelua vielä)
• koko on noin 4 v
  

Ajattelin tehdä myös pienemmän version takista, jos siitäkin tulee kiva, niin ehkä ohjekin voisi näkyä jossain.

Ok, I admit the fit is not perfect for I used my own machine to determine how much it felts and this was felted with another one so it might not have shrunk as much as I thought. But the good thing about children is that they grow and you can always roll the sleeves etc. so I think it will be a good autumn/winter jacket.

What happened.

• I spent about 450 g of yarn (Oü Aade Lõng 100% wool number 6/2)
• did the knitting by the machine with the largest setting
• crocheted about three rounds around the piece and sleeves and crocheted the button loops too (they require yet some stitches to make them smaller)
• size was thought to be for a 4 yo
  

I also thought I'd make a smaller one too (about couple of years), if it turns out nice too I might think about putting the pattern up somewhere.

Koska olen ollut Hyvä ja neulonut viimeisen kuukauden aikana lähes 600 g:n edestä varastolankoja, niin palkitsin itseni hiukkasella pellavaa. Hyvä sauma muutenkin, koska onnistuin saamaan viimeiset vyyhdit omenanvihreää pellavalankaa Tinttamarellista. Ko. väriä ei enää Ullcentrumilta kuulemma löydy. Siis, kyseessä on Ullcentrumin Linea, 100% puuvillaa, 300 g. Ajattelin alunperin tilaavani 500 g jotta saisin topin ja boleron, mutta nytpä pitää keksiä jotain muuta. Kuten esimerkiksi ylösalaisinraglan pitsihihoilla ja pitsikoristeluilla. Saa nähdä, ensin pitää kuitenkin neuloa useampi kappale sukkia.

Because I've been Good and knitted away closer to 600 g of stash yarn in the last month I decided to reward myself with some new yarn. Good time it was too, for I got the last of the apple green linen from Tinttamarelli. Apparently Ullcentrum has discontinued this colour. The yarn in question is Ullcentrum Linea in apple green, all 300 g of it. I originally wanted to have 500 g so I could make a top and a bolero but since this is what was left I'll have to think of something else. Like a top-down raglan with lace sleeves and decoration. We'll see what happens for before I can get to this I have to knit a number of socks.

Wannabe

Irc #neulontakanavan salainen ystävävaihto on osaltani ohi, olen paljastanut itseni kohteelle ja oma lahjojanikin on paljastunut. Tosin niin oli aikakin, kisan kun on tarkoitus loppua toukokuun lopussa.

Mitäpä siis sain...pari postikorttia (ja yksi hukkui matkalla), namuja, lankaa ja nyt lisää lankaa - ja namuja. Paketista löytyi siis suklaanamuja, mantelirooibosta ja kaksi kerää Lang Yarnsin Jawoll Jacquard-sukkalankaa. Langin lankoja olen päässyt kokeilemaan pariin otteeseen aiemminkin ja pidin niistä kovasti, luulenpa että sukkalanka on samaa sarjaa - mukavaa siis. Aiemmin saamaani tryffelirooibosta olenkin jo nauttinut useaan otteeseen, mutta manteli on vielä korkkaamatta. Pidän rooiboksesta noin yleisesti kun sitä on kiva juoda illalla (kun siinä ei ole kofeiinia) ja pidän maustakin. Nytpä on lisää valikoimaa. Kivoja ylläreitä, kiitoksia Koi:lle :-)

The secret exchange of our Finnish knitting irc-channel is over and done with on my part. Though it is as should be, since it was scheduled to finish by the end of this month.

So, what did I get? Well, a couple of post cards (one was lost in the mail), some goodies, some yarn and now more yarn - and goodies. In the last package I found some chocolate puffs, almond rooibos and Lang Jawoll Jacquard sock yarn. I have tried yarns from Lang a couple of times and I liked them very much and I suspect that it will be like that this time too. And I've really enjoyed the truffle rooibos I got earlier but haven't tried this one yet. I do like rooibos in general, since it's safe to drink in the evening (being without caffeine) and I like the taste too. Now I have more to choose from. Thank you, Koi :-)

Oma lahjottavani oli Marja V. Paljastuspakettiin teki mieleni neuloa jotain lankojen lisäksi ja niinpä päädyin huiviin. Pidän Clapotis-mallista, mutta en pidä siitä että se kiertyy enkä muutenkaan ole sellaisten huivien ystävä missä on selvä oikea ja nurja puoli, niin kehittelin siitä oman versioni, kas tässä. Ja koska se nyt haluaisi olla Clapotis, mutta ei ihan ole, annoin sille nimen Wannabe. Mielestäni siitä tuli oikein sievä ja lanka käyttäytyi mallikelpoisesti. En tehnyt sille sen kummempaa kuin kastelin, linkosin ja levitin kuivumaan.

My own spoilee was Marja V. I wanted to make something for the last package and I thought a scarf would be a nice general thing to make. I like Clapotis, but what I don't like is that it curls and I'm not too happy with scarfs that have a right side and a wrong side so I decided to tweak with it a bit and came up with this. I named it Wannabe, for obvious reasons. I think it came out quite cute and the yarn behaved admirably. I just wet the scarf, put it through a spin cycle and laid it out to dry.

Jotain tietoja:
Lanka on Noron Cash Lainea (lopetettu ilmeisesti jo aikoja sitten), 80% villaa, 20% kashmiria. Puikkokokoa en muista, mutta se oli todennäköisesti 4mm. Enkä kyllä muista sitäkään paljonko minulla oli silmukoita puikolla, mutta laitoin aina 4 silmukkaa tiputusrivien väliin. Jaa, eipä noista tiedoista tainnut olla paljonkaan hyötyä, heh. Mutta valmiista huivista tuli leveydeltään vähän yli 20 cm ja pituutta löytyy 160 cm ja lankaa meni kolme vyyhtiä, eli 120 g (vyyhdit olivat 40 g/kappale). Ja mikä tärkeintä, molemmat puolet ovat samanlaisia.

Some information:
The yarn in question is Noro's Cash Laine (apparently discontinued ages ago), 80% wool, 20% cashmir. Can't remember the exact needle size but it was probably 4 mm. And I can't remember how many stitches I had on the needle but I put four stitches between the ladders. Ok, I admit the information is not really much, but the finished scarf came out a bit over 20 cm wide and about 160 cm long and took three skeins of yarn, which makes 120 g (they were 40 g each). And what's important, both sides are identical.

Voiko kenkiä olla liikaa? - Can anyone have too many shoes?

Vietin siis äitienpäiväviikonloppua ja sitä seuraavaa maanantaita vanhempieni (ja veljeni) seurassa Kotkassa. Siellä tulee usein shoppailtua ja mukaan tarttuukin lähes aina jotain. Mietin että mistä se johtuu, ehkäpä siitä että en samanlaista shoppailua harrasta täällä lähes koskaan. Yleensä täällä tulee vain etsittyä jotain tiettyä pakosta, mutta Kotkassa tulee pidettyä seuraa äidille ilman varsinaista ostamistarvetta, joten ehkä sitä sitten tulee enemmän katseltua ympärilleen. Mutta, esittelenpä tässä saldoa. Kengät nro 1, mustat, tavalliset nahkaiset kävelykengät, alesta.

I spent the Mother's day weekend and the following Monday in Kotka with my parents (and my brother). While there I often go shopping and almost always manage to come away with something. I wonder why that is, maybe because I do not shop like that here. I seem to go looking for something if (and when) I have to but there I go to keep my Mother company and maybe I'm more open to my surroundings. Whatever the reason, I came away with stuff again. Introducing shoes 1: basic, black leather shoes that were on sale too.

Mustien kenkien paraati jatkuu. Mielelläni ostaisin jotain muutakin väriä välillä, mutta näitä ei tarjottu muunvärisinä ja hamekengille kun oli tarvetta niin nämä lähtivät mukaan. Think!-merkkiset sandalit mallia Kalevala (vaikka niitä ei näytäkään löytyvän tuolta nettisivulta). Ruskeat olisivat olleet pop, mutta kun mokomia tarjottiin vain ilman takaremmiä ja kun en moisia osaa pitää niin piti sitten ostaa nämä mustat. Mutta ah, jos olisi ollut punaisena...

The parade of the black shoes continues. I would like to buy some other colour for a change but they don't offer them that much. The brown version of this one was without the back-strap and I don't like wearing shoes that style so I was forced to get the black one for I need a pair of sandals that go with a dress too. These are by Think! and the model is called Kalevala (although I can not find it on their web site). But oh, that they would have offered them in red...

Pidän erityisesti koristeesta. Olen työkengissä menossa jo toisessa parissa Think!-sandaaleja ja arvostan niiden mukavuutta ja sitä, että ne eivät näytä tylsiltä terveyskengiltä. Koristeluihin on kiinnitetty erityistä huomiota mistä plussaa.

I particularly like the brooch-type decoration in the front. I'm on my second pair of work-sandals by Think! and I appreciate that they are really comfortable and manage to look fashionable instead of looking like boring health-sandals. It seems like they pay particular attention to the decorations which I like.

Minulla oli suunnitelma tämän blogientryn suhteen: latasin kuvat lauantaina ja kirjoittelin osan tekstiä, loppuun en ehtinyt kun veli tuli hakemaan, loput voisin kirjoitella sitten vanhempien luota. No ei onnistunut, Internet Tablet ja Blogger ei ole mitenkään toimiva yhdistelmä joten onnistuin poistamaan vahingossa kaksi kuvaa. Lisäksi Bloggerin editori kaatoi selainta noin yhdeksän kertaa kymmenestä. Kyllä se hullukin lopulta luovuttaa, ja niin tein minäkin ja päätin odottaa kunnes pääsen kotikoneen ääreen. Ehkä se läppäri pitäisi sitten ensi kerralla ottaa kuitenkin mukaan.

I had plans for this blog entry: I uploaded the photos on Saturday and typed in some of the text, didn't manage it all for my brother came to pick me up so I decided to finish it while visiting the parents. Well, it didn't go quite as well as planned for Internet Tablet and Blogger is not a match made in heaven but more like hell. I managed accidentally to erase two of the photos and the Blogger editor managed to kill my browser nine times out of ten. Even the crazy give up eventually, so did I and decided to wait until I got home to a real computer. Maybe I should take the laptop along next time after all.

Pinossa päällimmäisenä Let's Knit-sarjasta numero 12 (ISBN 978-4-529-04451-6) ja se sisältää kauniita pitsineuleita. Tuolta iskin silmäni beessiin jakkuun, joka tosin on hieman outoa tyyliä minulle, siinä on nimittäin röyhelöitä mutta eiköhän ne voi jättää poiskin. Siinä alla löhöilee Vintage Knitting in Tradition (ISBN 978-4-529-04457-8), Toshiyuki Shimadan uusi kirja, häneltähän on aiemmin tullut New Style of Heirloom Knitting, joka myös koristaa kirjahyllyäni, taannoiselta Japaninmatkalta mukaan poimittuna. Ja alimmaisena on jo monen kirjahyllystä löytyvä Knitting Patterns Book 250 (ISBN 978-4-529-044176-8), nytpä siis minullakin. My knitting book stash grew with three new books last week. We thank Yesasia for speedy delivery, the books arrived about a week before the predicted shipping date. At the top of the pile is number 12 from Let's Knit-series (ISBN 978-4-529-04451-6) - lovely lacy knits. I have my eye on a beige jacket that is really not my style for it has ruffles, but I think I could do it without them. Underneath is Vintage Knitting in Tradition (ISBN 978-4-529-04457-8), Toshiyuki Shimada's new book. He's previous one is New Style of Heirloom Knitting, which I also own, picked it up on my trip to Japan. And last but not least Knitting Patterns Book 250 (ISBN 978-4-529-044176-8), the book that many knitters have and so do I now too. I like them all, the style is different than what I've been used to and I think I'll have use for them all.

Hyvin Monen Silmukan (82 650) Huivi on vihdoinkin valmis, pääteltynä ja kaikkea. Tai no...ajattelin että laitan siihen hapsut vielä päihin, suunnilleen raitojen mukaan. Mutta neulomisosuus on loppu, ja hyvä niin. Huivista tuli aika pitkä, muttei kuitenkaan liian pitkä ja mukavan kevyt ja ilmava ja lämmin. Lankaa on varattuna vielä toiseen samanmoiseen joka sopisi tummanruskeaan kevättakkiini (tummanruskea-lehmuksenvihreä-musta) mutta jotenkin tuntuu nyt siltä että en ihan heti viitsi tehdä toista vaikka aionkin tehdä siitä hieman lyhyemmän. Moista nälkävuosihuivia (raidat eivät kauheasti auttaneet) ei voi tehdä heti toista.

The Scarf of Very Many Stitches (82 650) is finally finished. Well...I plan to add some fringe to it, according to the stripes I think. But the knitting part is done and it was about time too. The scarf came out quite long but not too long and light, airy and warm. I have more of the thin merino to make a similar scarf to match my dark brown spring jacket (it'll be dark brown-light green-black) but I think I'm not up to it yet even though I plan on making it a bit shorter. Such mind-numbing experience (the stripes didn't help that much) shouldn't be repeated too soon, I think.

Vaan aloitin uutta, sukkaa pukkaa. Lankana Colinetten aina niin ihana Jitterbug, väriä Velvet Plum, joka on todella kaunis syvän viininpunainen. Vuorossa ovat toiset Jitterbug-sukkani, nämä jäävät toivottavasti minulle, ensimmäiset matkasivat suuren meren taa Sockapalooza-sukkavaihdon merkeissä. Malli on apinoitu ja jalostettu aiemmin talvella ostamastani neulepuserosta. Vei hieman aikaa järkeillä miten saa kolmesta kavennettua kaksi niin että keskimmäinen jää päälle, mutta kyllä se siitä, kun kokeili. Vaikka kirjahylly pursuaa ohjekirjoja niin eihän niitä voi käyttää vaan itse on väännettävä. Ja menossa on vieläpä kolmas aloitelma: ensin aloitin varresta, mutta kellokuviot tulevat niin väärinpäin, joten se oli purettava. Sitten aloitin kärjestä mutta laitoin mukaan liikaa sörsseliä ja siitä ei tullut kiva, joten piti taas purkaa ja yksinkertaistaa. Tästä pidän.

So I started something new, a pair of socks with Colinette Jitterbug. The colour is called Velvet Plum and it is a very nice deep burgunddy. This is my second pair of socks with this yarn and I still like knitting with it. These will stay with me, I hope. The first pair was for Sockapalooza and they ended up overseas. The pattern idea was from a sweater I bought earlier this year, I figured out how to make it and tweaked with it a bit. This is actually a third start: first I started top-down but then they weren't much like bells so that had to go. Then I began with toes but included too much stuff in and that didn't look right so it had to go too. Third time's charm, or so they say, so I started toe-up again with less frills. I like this one.

I didn't head home without gifts, these were for my Mother. Quite pretty, aren't they? And useful too.

Mutta koska neulontakuvat ovat olleet vähäisiä viimeaikoina, niin ajattelin näyttää syyllisen. Kas tässä, nimesin sen nälkävuodeksi. Kyseessä on siis poikittain neulottu huivi, ainaoikeaa, ja ohutta merinoa Tallinnasta kaksinkertaisena, raidat omapäärandomraitageneraattorilla. Idean sain Hyvänneuleentiestä, tosin loin epähuomiossa silmukoita hieman enemmän, 551 yhteensä tarkalleen. Pikaisten laskujen mukaan huivista olisi tulossa 2.5 metriä pitkä, riittääköhän se?

Since I haven't posted much knitting pictures lately I thought I'd show you the culprit. Here you have it, a garter-stitch scarf knitted sideways with very thin merino doubled striping made with the random stripe generator in my brain - I named it Mind-numbing. I got the idea from Good Knit's Road, though I mistakenly cast on a bit more stitches than she did, 551 all in all. After some quick calculations I deduced that this scarf will be about 2.5 m long. Think that would be enough?

Kirjavaa neuletta - Multicoloured knitting

Neulekonekurssi on tältä keväältä ohi ja ainoa mitä sain syksyn ja kevään aikana tehdyksi on tässä. Puolustukseksi täytyy sanoa että olin syksyllä ja alkukeväästä aika paljon pois erinäisten sairauksien vuoksi ja tulihan sitä erinäinen määrä mallitilkkujakin kokeiltua. Mutta pidän, ja olenkin jo, pitänyt siis. Mutta mikään ei ole ikinä täydellistä ja niinpä ei tämäkään. Tuohon helmaresorin yläpuolelle tuli ihme möykyt, kun modasin kaavan omasta mallikaavasta enkä ajatellut että tuo kaari ei jatku resorissa, olisi voinut tehdä hieman suoremman. No, katson miten se asettuu (vai asettuuko ollenkaan) ja jos se häiritsee niin käytän vaikka ompelukonetta hieman suoristamaan saumaa. Tuo näyttää kyllä todella hyvältä mustan paidan ja mustien housujen kanssa.

Knitting machine class is over for the spring and the only thing I managed to do during autumn and spring is here. In my defence I have to say that I was away a lot during the autumn and start of spring due to all kind of ails and pains. And I did make a number of different swatches. But I like it and have worn in already. Nothing is ever perfect, though, and this is far from it. There's a strange bump above the hem ribbing (as you can see) and it shows when wearing. The reason for this is that I modified the vest from my own model pattern and didn't think that the curve wouldn't continue with the ribbing. If I had I would have made it more straight. Well, I'll see what happens with wear and if nothing does and it still bothers me I thought I might use a sewing machine to straighten it a bit. It does look mighty spiffy with a black blouse and pants, though.

Vähän faktaa...malli on siis oma, kuvio kaivettu jostain netin syövereistä, lanka on Knitpicksin Glossia (sitä paksumpaa) jota oli neljää väriä: Concord Grape (lila), Woodland Sage (vihreä), Dusk (sininen) ja musta. Musta loppui kesken (sitä oli alunperin vain 100g) ja sitä piti hankkia lisää. Kaikenkaikkiaan lankaa meni luokkaa 300g joista suurin osa oli mustaa.

Here's some facts...the pattern is my own, the fair-isle stitch pattern was found from the internet somewhere, the yarn is Knitpicks Gloss (the thicker version) in colours of Concord Grape, Woodland Sage, Dusk and Black. Ran out of the black at some point and had to get more (originally I had only 100g of it). All in all I spent about 300g in this, most of which was black.

Alpakkaa keväällä - Alpaca in the spring

Viikonloppu oli ja meni, mokoma. Miksi ne menevät aina niin nopeasti ohi, kun työviikko tuntuu välillä kestävän ikuisuuden? Mutta, sitä tikulla silmään joka vanhoja kaivelee, vai miten se nyt meni? Jokatapauksessa minun silmästäni taitaa löytyä nyt tikku koska vietin tämän päivän vanhan parissa. Jaegerin Luxury Tweedistä koneella neulomani kietaisuneule on ollut valmiina (tai lähes) jo ikuisuuden, mutta nyt pistelin neulalla innokkaasti ja se on kasassa. Puuttuu vain ylimääräisten langanpätkien päättely ja reunakappaleen ompelu. Mikäs sen ihanampaa kuin alpakkaneule keväällä.

The weekend came and went, the bugger. Why do they always pass so quickly when the work-week sometimes seems to last a century? Anyway, I spent today with old stuff. My wraparound sweater from luxury tweed has been done for a while now but today I was nifty with the needle and put the thing together. All that is missing is weaving in the odd ends and sewing in the edge piece. Can't think of anything I'd rather have than an alpaca sweater in the spring.

Se on se viikonloppu nyt - It's them things called a weekend now

Viime viikko oli hieman matalalentoa. Olin kotona aikaisintaan yhdeksältä melkein joka päivä, paitsi perjantaina. Silloin olin kotona jo kahdeksalta. Moisen jälkeen jaksoi korkeintaan lojua sohvalla ja neuloa, blogaamista ei voinut ajatellakaan. Mutta, nyt on viikonloppu, jaksaa taas.

Last week was quite heavy. I was home earliest at nine almost every day, except on Friday. Then I was home at eight. After which I didn't have energy to do anything else but sit on the sofa and knit, blogging was quite out of the question. But now, it is weekend and I have somewhat regained my energy.

Aloitetaanpa lahjuksilla. Salainen #neulontaystäväni (irc-kanava siis) lähetti paketin josta paljastui kaksi kerää lankaa. Toivottavasti siellä ei ollut mitään muuta, sillä kirjekuoressa oli reikä. Lanka on Schoeller+Stahlin Elfiniä, 90% akryyliä, 10% mohairia. Korkeasta keinokuitupitoisuudestaan huolimatta lanka tuntui yllättävän mukavalta, saa nähdä mitä siitä syntyy. Tuskin tänä keväänä enää mitään, sillä asteiden lähestyessä kymmentä ja talvitakin vaihduttua kevätsellaiseen jo jokin aika sitten minkäänlaiset viileän kelin asusteet eivät oikein innosta. Mutta, tuleehan se syksy/talvi taas (kai). Mutta kiitokset s#ny:lle!

Let's start with gifts. My secret friend (from knitting irc-channel) sent me a package which contained two balls of yarn. I hope there wasn't anything else inside when it left for there was a whopping big hole in the envelope when it reached me. The yarn is Schoeller+Stahl Elfin, 90% acrylic, 10% mohair. Despite its high content of artificial fibers it felt surprisingly nice. We'll see what I make of it. Nothing this spring, though, I think. For as the temperature is getting higher and me having switched to thinner coat a while back I'm not really in the mood for something meant for colder weather. But, there's always next autumn/winter (hopefully). But thanks for the pal!

Kaksi kerää punaista Lopia ja kerän ohutta Loðband Einband lankaa, pitsilankaa siis. Hyvin mielenkiintoinen paketti kaikenkaikkiaan (söin jo karkkiaskin melkein tyhjäksi). Oooh, huomasin juuri että tätä lankaa käytettiin Hyrna Herborgar-huivin ohjeessa. Harmi että sitä ei oikein saa yhdestä kerästä.

Then I did a small swap with a fellow Ravelrer (she's from Iceland) and I got her package. Some green tea, candy and yarn (of course). Yarn being two balls of Lopi and one ball of Loðband Einband, an Icelandic lace yarn. Very exciting package (I almost finished the candies in the box already), I just hope she'll like hers too. Oooh, I just noticed that the lace yarn is what's being suggested for the Hyrna Herborgar shawl. Too bad I only have one ball.

Neulekoneelta valmistui tulevan villatakin takakappale. Sateenkaarivillat (tai osa niistä siis) työn alla. Väri vaihtuu muuten kauniisti, mutta tuo sininen-lila -vaihto ei ole mitenkään kauhean kaunis. Mietin etukappaleen tekemistä yhtenä jotta voisin tehdä siitä symmetrisesti raidallisen. Leikkaisin sen tietenkin jälkikäteen auki. Tein jo kokeilujakin, katsotaan mitä tulee, menevät pesukoneeseen huomenna. Takki on siis tarkoitus huovuttaa valmiiksi. Mutta huomenna voisi vaikka tehdä hihat, niihin kun ei tarvitse mitään säätöä. Niin, tästä ei siis ole tulossa minulle mitään vaan ystävän tytölle, että ei tarvitse ihmetellä kokoa.

Straight from the steel needles, a finished back piece of a to-be jacket. The rainbow wool (or part of it) is on the knitting machine now. The colour changes are otherwise quite nice but the blue to lilac does not look so good in my opinion. I'm thinking of making the front piece as one and steeking it afterwards to make the pieces symmetric. I made some experimentation and they'll be going to the washing machine tomorrow. The idea is to felt this jacket when it's ready. Maybe I could do the sleeves tomorrow, there's no fiddling required with those. Oh, and this is not for me but for a friend's daughter, if you're wondering about the size, that is.

Lapsellista - Childish

Sain käymään nuken ja sille tuli sitten tehtyä pari vaatekappaletta. Nyt on mitat tallessa, pitäisi siis onnistua toisenkin kerran jotain. Näitä oli nopea ja helppo tehdä, valmistuivat nopeasti, moiset. Harvoin sitä viikossa tekee: takin, paidan, housut, liivin, kaulaliinan ja pipon.

A doll came for a visit and I made some clothes for it. And I made lots of measurements too so I might be able to do something later. But these were easy and quick to make, such small things. It's not often one manages to make in a week: a jacket, a shirt, a pair of trousers, a vest, a scarf and a hat.

Pusero ja housut. Puserosta tuli vähän omituinen, mutta ilmeisen käyttökelpoinen. Olisi kaivannut vielä vähän höyrytystä reunavirkkausten jälkeen mutta ei ollut aikaa kun nuken omistaja halusi sen mukaansa.

A shirt and trousers. The shirt wasn't very good but usable. It could have done with a steaming after I crocheted the edges but there was no time. The owner of the doll wanted it back.

Hieman hippityyliä: hattu ja liivi. Sarjaan kuului vielä kaulaliina, mutta se oli vain ihan suora.

A little on the bohemian side: a vest and a hat. There is also a scarf made from the same yarn but it is just a straight piece, nothing exciting.

Kuulemma pitää tehdä vielä oranssi mekko, koska se on tyttö ja tytöillä pitää olla mekkoja. Siispä tehdään.

Apparently I still have to make an orange skirt since it's a girl and a girl has to have skirts. So I will make one.

Pieniä iloja - Small pleasures

Olen tehnyt kaikenlaista pientä. Näitä kämmekkäitä on nyt kaksi (ja langanpätkätkin on päätelty). Ylhäältä aloitettu Colourmartin kashmirista, Bainbridgen kaveriksi. Yksi kerä ei ihan riittänytkään myös kämmekkäiksi, joten jatkoin alaosaa vaaleanpunaisella ja vaaleanruskealla. Mielestäni näistä tuli ihan sievät ja sopivat. Ja lämpimät.

I've done small things here. There's two of these fingerless mittens now (and the ends are woven in), made with Colourmart cashmere to go with the Bainbridge. I did not have enough of one colour so that's why I started from top down. And when I ran out of yarn I continued with two strands held together, one pale pink and one brown. Looks nice in my opinion, they're cute and warm.

Titanwoolit taipuivat viimein kerille, enemmän tai vähemmän kauniille, enemmän pienille kuin isoille langansotkeentumisongelmasta johtuen. Osa niistä on jo päässyt puikoille, kaulahuiviksi. Mutta jos rivillä on 551 silmukkaa niin yhtä sellaista neuloo tovin eikä valmista tule kovin nopeasti. Raitoja on onneksi kiva neuloa. Tässä kuva mobiilista keräntekoyksiköstä.

The Titan wools ended up in balls finally. They ended up being more or less pretty, more small than big because of the yarn ended up tangled easily. Some of them are already on the needles, becoming a scarf. But if there's 551 stitches on a round one knits one round a while and the amount of finished rows is not great. Stripes are fun to knit, though. Here's a photo of my mobile ball-winder unit.

Esmeralda on valmis, no, en ole vielä päättänyt mitä laitan reunoihin mutta neuletyö on ohi. Ei, en ole vieläkään löytänyt kadonnutta kerää, joten luovutin ja ostin sinnepäin-väriä jotta saisin viimeisen rivin tehtyä. Eikä siitä huomaa mitään. Olisin ottanut kuvan mutta hyvää lankaa arvostaa täällä muutkin kuin minä. Noro todettiin mukavaksi ja käyttökelpoiseksi ja lopuksi sen päälle rojahdettiin röhnöttämään.

Esmeralda is finished. Well, almost, I still haven't decided what kind of fringe I'll do but the knit part is over. And no, I still haven't found the one missing ball but I gave up and bought a similar colourway so that I could finish the last row. And you can't tell the difference. I would have proved it to you with a photo but someone else appreciates fine yarns here too. Noro was found to be comfy and good and after it received a good pounding it was approved of by sleeping on.
