Tänään oli vuorossa pääkaupunkiseudun tapaaminen Helsingissä Aleksanterinkadun Wayne's Coffeessa. Paikalla oli (toivottavasti muistan kaikki): Johanna P, Kristel, Kimberli, Minna L, Sanna, Rina, Heidi, Tanja ja Iris. Ja minä tietysti ;-) Sanna oli juuri käynyt ostamassa Kalevalaneuleet-kirjan ja sitä ihasteltiin. Teki kyllä mieli ruveta neulomaan vaikka kaikkia! Mutta sen sijaan tein valmiiksi yhden sukan. Katsokaa, eikö olekin hieno. Lanka on Opal Magic oranssi (1038), itseraidoittuva sukkalanka. Sitä ei tietääkseni myydä Suomessa. Ostin omani Get Knitted-putiikista.
Today was a meet at Helsinki and lots of people were present. Both old and new (and a couple of kids too). Present were: Johanna P, Kristel, Kimberli, Minna L, Sanna, Rina, Heidi, Tanja and Iris (I hope I didn't forget anyone). And me too! Sanna had just bought Kalevalaneuleet book and it was lovely. I wanted to knit them all straight away (I get that a lot but usually if I just breathe deep it'll go away). Instead I finished a sock. Isn't it lovely? The yarn is Opal Magic orange (1038) self-striping sock yarn. I got mine from Get Knitted.

Noh...mitäpä langasta sanoisi. Ohuttahan se on, 2.5 puikoilla neulottavaa. Ja, tuleehan siitä jonkinlaisia raitoja. Tuntuu siltä, että kun olen nyt paria itseraidoittuvaa kokeillut niin jätän ne langat toistaiseksi hyllyyn. Sitäpaitsi pidän hieman paksummista sukista kun kotosalla niillä enimmäkseen tassuttelen.
Well...what to say about the yarn. It's knitted with tiny needles (2.5 for me) and it does make some kind of stripes and pattersn. But since I've tried a couple of different brands of self-striping sock yarn I think it's enough for me now. Besides I like my socks to be thicker since I wear them mostly around the house.

Tästä langasta pitäisi tulla pikkujoulupusero äidilleni. Jotain harvaa - kuulemma. Ha! Jotenkin lanka ei inspiroi minua ollenkaan. Mutta tässä nyt on kokeiltu jotain harvaa. Lanka on ihanan näköistä kerällä mutta neulepinta ei mielestäni niin kaunista sitten olekaan. Ai niin, kyseessä on Tallinnasta ostettu Katia Chic , viininpunainen. Grr! Mielelläni tekisin villapaitaa, mutta pakko kait mokoman kanssa on taistella kun kerran olen luvannut ja langatkin on. Kun vain mokoma ei olisi jotenkin niin hankalaa! Äitini maalailee minulle niin ihania maljakoita ja kuppeja ja muita astioita (hän harrastaa posliininmaalausta) että haluaisin paidastakin tulevan ihanan.
This yarn is supposed to become something fancy for my mother. Something filmy, net-like, whatever - or so she said. Ha! Somehow the yarn doesn't speak to me at all. But I managed to try something a bit see-through. The yarn is lovely as a ball...tape yarn with sparkly bits and the colour is deep and wonderful. But I don't like the way it knits up. Oh, and it's called Katia Chic (the burgundy one), and I bought it from Tallinn. Thank goodness I managed to resist the temptation...I was going to buy some for myself also. I'd much rather be knitting a woolly sweater for myself but a promise is a promise and I've got the yarn. I just wish the yarn behaved more reasonably. Or maybe I'm just finicky. My mom makes me so lovely plates and stuff (she paints china) that I want to make her something lovely too.
