Kiirettä pitää - I've been busy again

Haipakkaa on taas pitänyt.

Time goes pretty quickly - last week I had something almost every night after work and then I went away for the weekend (visited my parents), this week I had training and, well, now it's Saturday.

While I was spending weekend in Kotka I managed to finish something, namely the fluffy scarf. And on Saturday we went shopping and found a hat to go with it. The scarf stayed with my Mom, she was very pleased with it. The yarn used was the typical used in these, On Line's Solo, that is, I spent three balls, had about 13 stitches and used suitable needles (4 mm or so, does not really matter). And I spent all in all considerably more time on it than just a couple of movies' worth.

I did some swatches at the machine knitting class last week using the linen yarns I got at the fair. These I showed to my Mom for she wishes to have some pillow cases made. I guessed that she'd fancy the rose one but made a couple of others too, and I guessed right, for the roses it will be. Yesterday at the class I managed to make one patterned piece already. The plan is to have two similar cases with pattern on one side and plain brown on other. And if I have enough yarn I'll make i-cord to put on the edges, but we'll see how it goes.

Since I was there I took the opportunity to take photos of one of my previous works to my Mom. Pillow covers, naturally. These I felted some time ago, probably on my first felting course. Pillow cases are quite handy to make, you don't have to worry about fit that much and then they're there out for all to see (or visitors at least). I made another pair to my Mom earlier, from some thick Novita cotton-mix (probably Novita Maxi), but they are not in use anymore for the fabric stretched way too much even though I used the yarn doubled and with smallish needles.

I started last weekend to knit other fair purchases, the black and orange yarns, but since they will become a christmas present I won't post a photo of my knit here. Instead I thought I'd post a photo of a windmill that is found near my parents' place. The city had gone and made this all pretty again. So, there's nice ones elsewhere than Holland too...
